The recession has put the SME and company formation sector under a large amount of pressure. As a result many companies have had to evolve and diversify to survive.
For many companies that have meant offering a different range of products and services, for others it has meant investigating alternative routes to market, including online. However, according to a recent survey by finance company ‘Constant Capital’ many small businesses have over looked the potential of exports.
Andrew Walker, managing partner at ‘ Constant Capital’ believes that regardless of the fact that pound is still weak compared to other currencies, exports still offers a valuable revenue stream for small businesses. He comments;
“While the domestic market is still struggling, globally there is huge potential. Yet many small businesses are failing to recognize this preferring to concentrate all their energy on the domestic markets. However, an increase in consumer confidence and subsequent increase in consumer spend still looks unlikely.”
