Well Kate Taylor, staff writer for Entrepreneur.com, looked at several entrepreneurs with children and found “starting a business was a means of creating a better life for their kids; for others, the kids themselves inspired the business idea”.

Kids are like little muses – so having them around during the summer break is a key reason why it’s a great time to form a business. Taylor quoted founder of New Orleans based retailer Fleurty Girl in her article as saying “You have to make family a part of your business… I’ve always considered my kids to be my board of directors” and advised parents with business ambitions to “Make them a part of that journey”.

Time for Big Thinking – Blue Sky Thinking

When the summer is here – it’s often a period of reflection. Maybe it’s the longer days or the fact that you’re much more likely to be outdoors during summer – but the additional activity is clearly a very good way to gain a few insights and reflect.

This kind of big thinking is also conducive to thinking outside the box – which is a great way to come up with an original idea. There are many people with an okay idea – but a great idea requires a special kind of approach. The summer provides a period of reflection that makes ideas flow much more freely.

There are many reasons why summer is so conducive to new ideas – one of which is holidays. Many people take a trip during the summer – which is a time of rest, relaxation and changing the way you think. Travel broadens the mind. In such a different environment, it’s easy to see how big ideas are much more achievable.
