What is Companies House PROOF?

The Companies House PROOF (Protected Online Filing) service is a security measure created to prevent company fraud. Companies House accept paper filings for limited companies “on good faith”, they do not carry out signature checks. Therefore it’s relatively simple for someone to carry out fraud against a limited company using paper documents.

By signing up for PROOF a director is saying that they no longer want Companies House to accept paper documents for their company, all future filings must be completed online.

To sign your company up for PROOF:

• Login (or sign up) for Companies House Webfiling
• Enter your company information
• Select “Join PROOF”
