The first step of the online company formation process is to check the availability of your proposed company name. If the name is available you then choose your company registration package, make payment and then fill-out your company details. But what if you make payment and then change your mind about the company name? Is it too late to change it? Read on to find out.
Good news! It’s not too late to change your company name, just as long as you haven’t submitted your company information to Companies House (if you have, you can find out about our ‘Company Name Change’ service here). You will find the option to ‘change company name’ at the top of every page during the online company formation process, next to your existing company name:
You will also find the option to change the name on the ‘Summary’ page, just before your information gets sent off to Companies House:
Once you select ‘change company name’ or ‘change’, enter your new company name and then select ‘Search’. You’ll immediately be told if the name is available:
If it is available, select ‘Continue’ and proceed with your formation. If it isn’t available, continue trying until you find a name that is.
