After what can only be described as a tense November and an eagerly anticipated December, according to the BRC, the UK’s retail sales figures throughout the festive period indicate the most growth the retail sector has seen since 2004.

The figures reveal, the UK sales figures increased by nearly five percent, compared to the figure recorded for the same period this time last year.

Angela Gilling, spokesperson for the BRC comments; “As the media was saturated with headlines such as ‘The Worse Christmas Retail Has Ever Seen’, these figures may come as a bit of a shock. Indeed, they were much better than we thought and showed that UK’s retail sector has made a significant recovery from the recession.”

“However, we must remember that these figures include all revenue generated from online sales revenue as well. The high street is still not quite out of the woods.”
