Increase in SMEs point to Rise in Company Registration

According to recent statistics the start of 2009 saw an increase of 51,000 new businesses in the UK taking the total figure up to an estimated 4.8 million. The statistics released by The Department for Business Innovation and Skills summarise that Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) accounted for 99.9 per cent of this total. The increase that took place between 2008 and 2009 is the largest since the “time series” started in 1994.
